The Lambkin Longhair (LAL) and Shorthair (LAS) is a short legged cat, muscular, with a slightly elongated body. The short legs do not hamper mobility or survivability.They are outgoing, intelligent and sociable.The dominant gene that affects the awn and undercoat randomly twists the coat into separate curls. The distinct short legs are developed from a spontaneous autosomal dominant mutation.

Shape

Shape & profile: Rounded, full cheeked with the head slightly broader than

the depth from the jawline to the top of thehead. Forehead rounded and broad with a slightly curved top of head from the nose to the back of the skull with no flat planes. top head rounded but not domed. Forehead is high, the bridge of the nose divides the height of the head in half.

Muzzle and chin

Muzzle: Short, and broad with a width greater than its height when viewed

from the front, due to well-developed and well-padded whisker pads. When viewed from above and from the side, the muzzle is clearly visible beyond the cheeks.

Whiskers made be curly or broken. Absence of a pronounced nasolabial fold.

Chin: fulland wide.

Profile

Profile: Gentle curve to a moderate stop

Nose: Moderately short, broad and with an obvious stop, but no break; not

snub. Top of the nose leather should not come above the lower edge of the eye.

Eyes

Large, wide open, upper eyelid is round, the lower is almond but not protruding.

Оuter corner of the eye is much higher than the inner one. Deep brilliant eye color is preferred which conforms to coat color.

Medium with preference given to slightly smaller ears but not extreme. Rounded tips. Set wide apart.

Size and body

The Lambkin is a medium sized, muscular cat. Torso: Semi-cobby, well rounded. Strong bones. Straight top-line preferred, slight rise from the shoulders to tail is acceptable.

Boning: Medium to substantial. In front, legs should be short and straight

from the breadth of the chest adding to sturdy appearance.

Head should blend into moderately short neck.

Legs and paws

The legs are short, well developed, firm

Musculature, set evenly apart when viewed from front or back.The upper part and the lower part of the front legs are equally long.

Thigh and lower leg approximately equal in length.Back legs slightly longer than front legs is acceptable. Outer upper thigh boning and musculature may be thick and pronounced due to short legs. Inner leg straight with little to no bowing though slight bowing is acceptable.

Feet: Rounded, strong. Wide, are directed forward

Tail

In proportion to body length or longer, not short. Long hairs should be

plumed.

Length

In both coat lengths the curls are more prominent on the neck, belly and tail.The curls on the back is variable due to climate and hormones, especially in females. Shorthair: Double coat, short, plush with thick undercoat.Pronounced curls all over.Longhair: Medium length, soft with dense undercoat and curled hair tips. Short on the head, shoulders and legs, becoming gradually longer down the back and sides.

Kittens may lack curly coat.They are curly at birth and may lose their coat.It begins to develop, as they mature so must be judged mainly on head and body type.

The curliness of the coat on the back is subject to climate, seasons and hormones, particularly in females.
